BMT and the Stanford Prison Experiment

Philip Zimbardo appeared on one of the more recent freakonomics podcast, and that led me to realize something that should have been so blatantly obvious: isn't the Stanford Prison Experiment not that much different from our dear, own, BMT?

It was also interesting to read criticisms of the Stanford Prison Experiment. (http://www.rabe.org/serious-questions-about-spe/) Just for one batch, it will be interesting to set up BMT as a truly randomized trial. Where else in the world can you get such a large group to participate in a setting such as this (hyperbole aside, yeah, there are other countries with conscription)

And, if your BMT experience is anything similar to mine, there are some results from the Stanford Prison Experiment that sure rings true.
